Welcome to Velos, a Christ-centered, nonprofit organization based in the Upstate of South Carolina.
Our name, Velos (Greek: Βέλος, pronounced VEL-ohs), means “arrow,” and it reflects our heart and mission. Inspired by Psalm 127:3–5 “Children are a gift from the Lord… Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth,” we are committed to shaping students and athletes as arrows, intentionally formed, purposefully aimed, and sent out to make a lasting impact for generations to come.
But every arrow needs direction and power. This is where Storm comes in.
The name Storm was chosen specifically for our competitive sports programs, capturing the vision that our young people are not just being sent out quietly into the world. They are being launched with strength and purpose, storming the darkness with the light and truth of Christ. Like lightning piercing the sky, our athletes are trained to advance boldly, stand firm in their faith, and impact the world around them with courage and conviction.
Velos is built upon the vital foundation of a relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe every part of life is connected to our spiritual journey. As parents and mentors, we hold the sacred responsibility of stewarding the next generation, passing down not just knowledge, but wisdom, faith, and purpose. Velos exists to come alongside families in that calling.
At Velos, we believe every child is uniquely created by God with individual gifts, talents, and purpose. Because of this, we do not believe children are meant to be shaped into identical molds or measured against one another. Each student carries a distinct calling, and our role as mentors and educators is to help nurture and develop the individual soul God has entrusted to them.
Our goal is not to place students into a cookie cutter system where success is defined by grades, scores, or comparison with others. Instead, we seek to cultivate a genuine love of learning, curiosity, creativity, and personal growth that reflects the unique design God has placed within each child.
Velos was created not only for students, but also to encourage and support parents in their homeschool journey. We understand that raising and educating children is both a calling and a responsibility. Our community exists so families can come together, encourage one another, and walk this path without pressure to compare their children with others or measure success by someone else’s timeline. Instead, we celebrate the individual growth, character, and God-given strengths within every student.
While some of our offerings include academic enrichment, the majority of Velos classes focus on experiential learning, creative exploration, and real-world life skills. Many of our families handle core academics within their homeschool structure, and Velos exists to complement that work by providing opportunities that are often difficult to replicate at home.
Through programs such as the arts, trades, athletics, leadership development, entrepreneurship, and hands-on skill building, students are able to explore interests, discover talents, and grow in confidence. These experiences allow students to engage both mind and character while learning perseverance, responsibility, teamwork, and problem solving.
We also recognize that in many educational environments today, the development of critical thinking has been overshadowed by an emphasis on memorization, testing, and measurable scores. At Velos, our desire is to help reignite the ability to think deeply, ask meaningful questions, and engage thoughtfully with the world around us.
Rather than focusing primarily on memorization or test performance, our programs are designed to cultivate curiosity, discernment, creativity, and problem solving. Through hands-on experiences, mentorship, discussion, and exploration, students learn how to think, not simply what to think.
At the heart of Velos is our vibrant community of coaches, teachers, and leaders who walk alongside students with humility, joy, and love. Through meaningful relationships, our goal is to help each child discover their God-given talents and grow in both character and calling.
Our programs focus on developing life skills and Biblical values such as:
Responsibility and stewardship of time
Humility and servant leadership
Building meaningful relationships
Self-sacrifice and love for others
You will also notice a lion in our branding. This powerful symbol points to the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, a reference to Jesus Christ, the victorious King and promised Deliverer. It reminds us that our strength, hope, and purpose come from Him alone.
Just as arrows are shaped and released by warriors, we believe our youth are being prepared to storm the darkness, shine God's light, bring hope, and carry His truth into a world in need. Our students and athletes are not just participating in programs. They are being equipped to become leaders, light bearers, and difference makers for the Kingdom.
Our mission is simple.
To help young people grow into well-rounded, Christ-centered adults who live purposeful, beautiful lives filled with courage, conviction, and compassion. Our arrows will go forth as the lightning, boldly sharing His love and truth wherever they go.
We are here to guide, mentor, and encourage the next generation to go out boldly, ready to make a difference for Him.
Velos Collective is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization governed by a Board of Directors.
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, and inerrant word of God, the supreme and final authority for all faith and life.
We believe there is one God, creator of all things, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity and humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension, and His imminent bodily return in power and glory.
We believe the man and woman were created in the image of God but chose to sin, and is therefore spiritually depraved, and needs to be regenerated by the Holy Spirit for salvation.
We believe that salvation is a gift of God given to man by grace alone through faith alone in the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ alone.
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to regenerate, seal, indwell, teach, convict, and empower the believer for godly living and service.
We believe Christ, the Head of the Church, has commanded the Body of Christ to make disciples of all nations. The universal visible Church will extend to all the people groups of the world; therefore all peoples are of equal in the Body of Christ.
We believe that Christian parents have the privilege and God-given responsibility to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God.
We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. Marriage has the purpose of sanctification, illustration, and procreation.
This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
For purposes of Velos Collective’s statement of faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Board of Directors is the Velos Collective responsible and final authority.
The Honor code is the mechanism to be of one mind as members of Velos Collective. Our relationship with Christ is the foundation of Truth that undergirds all aspects of our lives. Capital T in truth, is for God’s absolute truth of His word and not what we regard as worldly truth.
HAVE GRACE TOWARDS OTHERS
It is by grace that we are saved.
Eph 2:8 “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; the benefits of grace demand us to live by grace in relation to others.”
LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY
Love is the cornerstone to all relationships.
John 13:34 “ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”
DO ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD
We live for Him because of the life we have through Him.
Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men”
REGARD OTHERS GREATER THAN SELF
Thoughtfulness is to put others' needs first and to sacrifice your time, treasure and talent for the glory of God.
Philippians 2:3 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride, but in humility consider others more important than yourselves. 1 John 3:16, “We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”
SEEK THE TRUTH
We must seek Truth so that we may live in wisdom.
2 Timothy 2:15 “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”
