COMPETITIVE ARCHERY

Velos Storm Archery is a  competitive co-ed program with  Elementary, Middle School, and High School teams/divisions (4th - 12th grade).

Storm Archery has been awarded State Champions in Bullseye & 3D 2015 & 2018 and has continued to be in the top three teams of SC State, yeare after years as well as many individual archers placing in the top 10 of National and World Championships along with Regional Champions for  2014, 15, 16, 17, 18,  19, 21, 22, 23, & 2024 seasons.

The core content of the program covers archery safety, shooting technique, equipment, and mental concentration. Archers have the opportunity to compete under NASP tournaments at local, state, national and world levels. https://www.naspschools.org/

Our season runs from October through mid June with practices on Monday and Thursday evenings. A minimum of one practice weekly is required to compete.

Students are coached and instructed by BAI Certified Coaches as well as BAI Coaches that are former Velos Storm archers that hold State Championship records in target archery and 3D. 

We meet at the Eastside Worship Center gym at 601 Taylors Road for all practices and in-house tournaments. If qualified, archers will compete at Regionals (Local)  State (Columbia, SC), Nationals (Louisville, KY), and World (Myrtle Beach, SC 2025).

We use the Genesis Original Bow which is the only approved bow to compete under the National Archery in the Schools Program. All equipment is provided but we recommend that archers purchase their own personal bow by the competitive season, which allows them to practice at home. However, it is not required and we provide all that is necessary for your archer. Archers are able to purchase their own personal bow through Velos / NASP for $125.00. We offer Bullseye and 3D competitive archery. All practices are held indoors. Archers shoot at 10 and 15 meters. ​https://genesisbow.com/product/genesis-original/

Students need no prior shooting experience. Selection of archers is based on their ability to listen to instruction, discipline/focus and ability to perform the basic requirements for shooting. 

Students are required to attend an ​Archery Intensive​ or participated in our Archery PE class prior to the season beginning  AI will be offered every August and you can learn more about our PE classes by clicking on our 'CLASSES' option.

ARCHERY INTENSIVE will be held in August 2024 and we plan on providing a Summer Archery Camp.  Make sure you are registered with us for updates.

For every new season the registration cost may vary slightly, but on the average the fees range from $375 - $400,  which includes uniform, eight (8) months of coached practices and all in-house tournaments. There is a discount for families with multiple children joining, as well as a graduated three-month payment plan. We offer incredible fundraisers that help archers cover the entire cost of registration fees.
