A hands-on introduction to how computers learn, think, and create — exploring the basics of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the ethical challenges shaping our future.
This one-semester course introduces students to the fascinating and fast-growing world of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Students will explore how machines can simulate aspects of human intelligence — from recognizing images and interpreting language to making decisions and generating creative works. Through hands-on projects and interactive simulations, students will learn the fundamentals of algorithms, data, and machine learning, while also examining the ethical, social, and legal implications of AI technologies. By the end of the course, students will be able to describe core AI concepts, build and test simple AI models using visual tools, and critically evaluate the role of AI in everyday life. This course emphasizes creativity, problem solving, and responsible innovation rather than advanced mathematics or coding experience.
Course Requirement: Basic computer literacy (no coding required; optional Python or Scratch extensions).
Target Level: 9th - 12 Grade
