SIGN LANGUAGE WITH MUSIC

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR:  KAYLA ARROWOOD

Kayla has been immersed in American Sign Language since childhood, developing a natural familiarity and love for the language. She has been homeschooling for eight years and has been actively involved in kids and youth ministry for several years. For the past five years, she has taught language to homeschool students, incorporating music as a powerful and engaging way to learn. Singing through signs is something Kayla has practiced since she was young, and she is passionate about helping students connect language, rhythm, and expression in a meaningful way. She is excited to bring this unique approach to the students at Velos.

SIGN LANGUAGE WITH MUSIC

Target Level:  Ages 7 - 11 & 12 - 18

10 Weeks - 30 minute classes

This class introduces students to American Sign Language through music, helping them learn signs, rhythm, and expression in a fun and engaging way. Students will learn several new signs each class, building their vocabulary step by step. Throughout the 10-week session, the class will work toward learning and signing an entire song together. Because music supports memory and connection, students retain what they learn and carry these skills with them long-term, while also growing in confidence and expressive communication.

There will be two class times for the difference age groups.
