INSTRUCTOR: AMBER WEBB
Amber Webb is an educator and food enthusiast passionate about nurturing curiosity, creativity, and confidence in young learners. With a background in Nutrition, Sociology, and Food Studies, she has experience teaching in community settings, including leading a YMCA teaching kitchen and garden program. She also served for seven years with Colorado State University Extension, specializing in Family and Consumer Sciences, food safety, nutrition, food preservation, and culinary literacy.
Amber’s teaching focuses on hands-on learning and joyful discovery. Inspired by her young son, she creates engaging classes in nature, STEAM, and food that encourage students to explore, create, and build practical skills while developing meaningful, lifelong connections to food and the world around them.
DISCOVERY DAYS: EXPLORING NATURE, FOOD & STEAM
Target Levels: Ages 4-6
12 Weeks
A hands-on enrichment class for ages 4–6 that builds confidence and creativity through nature exploration, beginner STEAM projects & food and cooking experiences in a joyful, curiosity-driven learning environment.
This hands-on enrichment class for children ages 4–6 is designed to spark curiosity and inspire joyful learning. Through immersive nature exploration, beginner STEAM experiences, and age-appropriate food and cooking activities, children learn by doing. Each session nurtures confidence, creativity, and early problem-solving skills while helping young learners build meaningful connections with the natural world, food, and how things work.
Nature Immersion
Children explore the outdoors through guided discovery, seasonal activities, and simple nature science. From mini nature hunts and observing insects to weather exploration and themed nature crafts, students develop observation skills and a deeper appreciation for the world around them.
STEAM Exploration
Young learners engage in hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and math experiences designed just for early childhood. Activities may include building simple structures, experimenting with color mixing and basic reactions, exploring textures and materials, and creating functional crafts that bring ideas to life.
Food & Cooking Exploration
Children build confidence in the kitchen through simple recipes, sensory exploration, and food discovery. Students practice foundational kitchen skills while assembling snacks, learning where food comes from, tasting new ingredients, and exploring flavors and textures in a safe, supportive environment.

4 Food Sensory & Cooking sessions
4 Hands-On STEAM project sessions
All supplies and ingredients for nature, STEAM crafts and food experiences are provided. STEAM projects often are creations that can be taken home and played with beyond class time.

Most recently, she served as faculty with Colorado State University Extension for seven years, specializing in Family & Consumer Sciences, food safety, nutrition, food preservation, and culinary literacy.
Amber’s teaching philosophy centers on hands-on exploration and learning through joyful discovery. Inspired by her young son’s love of discovery, she designs classes that spark curiosity and cultivate practical skills through engaging experiences in nature, STEAM, and food. Her lessons empower children to explore, create, and experiment, fostering meaningful connections with the world around them and positive, lifelong food experiences. Amber feels honored to support families during this formative stage, helping shape thoughtful, capable, and creative learners.
