This course is designed to give high school students an understanding of how the mind, body, and spirit work together for optimal health. Significant components of health and nutrition as well as key body systems will be covered. Students will be able to apply what is learned and walk away with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the incredible human body. This 12 week course will walk students through key components of health and wellness including: nutrition, fitness, emotional wellbeing, stress responses, and natural remedies.
We will study the functioning of key body systems including the nervous, digestive, immune and endocrine and learn how to intentionally support each system. Participation in various hands-on projects will help with application of the material. Students will be equipped with information to help them develop an appreciation for the human body as a whole and will be empowered with life skills that will be beneficial for years to come.
Prerequisites: Students are encouraged to be attentive and participate in class discussion. A three ring binder with notebook paper and a pen will be needed for class. Projects will include the need for outside materials (usually found at home) but all other materials will be provided.
