REGISTRATION WILL OPEN EARLY APRIL, 2025
Students that have previously taken the archery class will continue their shooting education and build on skills from semester to semester.
Course Summary:
This is an introductory course to target archery and the core content of the program covers the history of archery, archery safety, shooting techniques, equipment, mental concentration, and development of core physical strength.
Course Outline:
Aside from the primary goal of teaching the basic skills needed to learn a traditional, lifetime shooting sport, this course aims to improve student motivation, attention, behavior, and focus. The program helps students develop their micro- and macro-motor skills in addition to their listening and observation skills. Students will participate in strength training exercises and how to effectively use the stretch band and string bow to further their archery skills and endurance. This is a course that will be enjoyed by every age and is suitable for everyone!
Equipment:
All equipment is provided for this program. The bows we use are safe with a universal fit easy for the student to learn to use and identical for every student. We use the Genesis Original compound bow which has no let-off and is adjustable from 10-20 pounds in draw weight at any draw length and the Easton 1820 aluminum arrow. Students are able to purchase their own bow and arrows through our program.
Course Requirements:
It is crucial that students are able to listen and follow instructions closely to ensure safety for all participating. If a student is not able to safely handle the bow, including the ability to pull back the string, hold the bow upright while releasing the arrow safely, we will let the parent know and a refund will be provided. Students will wear comfortable clothing for exercise and be required to bring their string bow (provided by Velos) to every class.

Teacher: Tuesday Class - Colleen Pusateri
Colleen is a retired homeschool mom of three wonderful adult children. Alongside her husband, she founded Velos Storm Archery over ten years ago and has spent the last decade coaching and managing elementary, middle school, and high school students. Colleen is a BAI Certified Archery Coach through the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP).
Under their leadership, Velos Storm Archery has achieved State Championship titles in both target archery and 3D, and holds multiple records among the top ten archers and teams in the Nation and World.
Colleen’s deep love for youth and passion for archery inspired her to create a PE-style archery class for students who may not yet be ready for competitive sports but still want to develop new skills. As the founder of Velos, she believes archery is a powerful tool for building life skills, independence, and strong character in young people. Her work is rooted in the truth of Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” This verse reflects her heart for serving students with excellence, purpose, and faith.
Teacher: Thursday Class - Abby Zimmerman
Abby was homeschooled and is a proud alumna of Velos Storm Archery. Now a BAI Certified Archery Coach, she has returned to coach the very team she once competed with. Since graduating high school, Abby has been actively coaching and has become an integral part of the program’s leadership.
