Welcome to the Velos Homeschool Band Program!

Our mission is to support and enhance the musical education of homeschoolers in the Upstate area. This program is designed for students from 5th to 12th grade who are either eager to begin their musical journey or wish to continue developing their instrumental skills in a fun and supportive environment. 

Program Offerings:

• Beginning Band: Ideal for students with little to no prior experience with musical instruments. Participants are required to complete 3 months of private lessons before joining. These initial lessons will prepare students by focusing on basic instrument handling, introductory music theory, and fundamental techniques.

• Advanced Band: Geared towards students who have been playing their instrument for at least one year. This ensemble aims to refine skills, deepen musical understanding, and enhance performance capabilities through advanced techniques and more complex musical arrangements.

We are committed to building a strong foundation for our musicians by teaching proper techniques, music theory, and performance practices, thereby ensuring a solid musical education.

Teacher:  Rachel Figg

Rachel  is a music teacher and seasoned homeschooling mom of four. With a degree in Music Education, Rachel has over 25 years of experience in music instruction. Her career includes providing private lessons and serving for seven years as an elementary music teacher in Greenville County Schools, where she successfully secured a grant to initiate a band program.

Rachel is also the founder of Spark Schooling, an innovative online homeschool program. At Spark Schooling, she teaches classes and collaborates with a team of educators to provide comprehensive lessons in Art, Music, Physical Education, and STEM to homeschool families around the world. 

Outside of her educational commitments, Rachel actively participates in her church worship team and teaches swim classes. She also enjoys unwinding by listening to podcasts, reading books, and adventuring with her family.

Beginner Band - 8:30 - 9:15 AM 

Advanced Band 9:15 - 10:00 AM

Thanksgiving Break Week of November 25, 2024

Christmas Break - December 16 - January 6, 2025

Spring Break - Week of March 17, 2025

Tuition:  $350.00 

 **Annual Registration Fee: $85 per student or $145 for family.**
