REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR THE 2023 - 2024 CLASSES!

CROCHET BEGINNER CLASSES
Course Summary:
Crochet is a creative art that allows you to make toys, blankets, or clothing with your own two hands. This art has been proven to be relaxing, boosting productivity, and a form of stress relief. It is less intimidating than knitting as you only need one tool to create with. Once you know the basics, the large world of crochet is open to you!
Course Outline:
This crochet class is for absolute beginners, covering basic crochet skills and terminology. The project is different from the previous semester. The end product will be a large patchwork blanket that mixes different patterns and stitches. This semester will hone crochet skills, from types of stitches to reading patterns. The yarn and pattern book will be provided. Hooks will be provided if student does not have one
Course Requirements:
The goal of this course is to teach the basics, which will allow the students to branch out into the world of crochet easily. No previous experience needed, just bring patience in your pocket!
Category: Elective
Class size will be from 8 to 12 students.
Target levels: 6th-12th grade
Course Materials: A majority of materials are covered with the cost of the class (including a set of ergonomic crochet hooks, yarn, stitch markers, crochet needles for weaving ends, and patterns). Scissors will be provided, but if you'd like to bring your own pair to make it easier, that is perfectly fine. A notebook and sticky notes to write on are highly suggested.
Teacher: Ashley Mansfield
Ashley has been practicing crochet off and on for years, but when a chronic illness caused her to leave a physically demanding workplace, she doubled down learning crochet as she recovered. Ashley has grown up in Greenville and was part of the homeschool community from kindergarten through high school, including archery with the Pusateri's. She graduated from Bob Jones University in 2020 with a BA in History. She is married and lives in Greer with her husband and her cat.
